Alumni Night

During basketball season at Tongue River High School, the basketball students and coaches would play their last game in the old gym. TRHS had been around for 50 years. Faculty and students wanted to make the last home game ever, the most memorable. FCCLA members put on the alumni night, and invited all past students and players that attended TRHS. They decorated the school and gave out jackets. In-between varsity games they announced all the graduates and had them stand up. The varsity boy’s basketball team wore old jerseys in memory of all the graduates. The alumni night was a success and will always be remembered. We the students are now in the new school, and the old school is being tore down. Past graduates and current students will always remember the old school because of the alumni night.
The FCCLA students put alot of effort into making the alumni night a night to remember. They had months of planning the event and getting everything together. They were incharge of calling all the previous graduates and asking them to please join us at the last game in the gym. They created jackets to give to some of the alumnis. The FCCLA students put the night together as a FCCLA project. The night was very well done, and it was obvious everyone there enjoyed it.
Inbetween the boys and girls varsity games they asked everyone that graduated in certain years to please stand up. As people slowly stood up it was shocking how many people actually attended the event. People from each year were standing and the gym was packed with people. They gave the attendies their jackets and continued on with the night.

The night of the event was a big game for the varsity boys. They were playing sundance and wanted to beat them more then anything. They had already qualified for reagionals, as a team they decided to give the audience little surprise. They wore jerseys from previous years. They were "old school," as the team would say. The audience went crazy and you could tell it made an impact on them.
The alumni night was a very memorable night; For the past 50years of students and players, even the people didn't attend the high school. The new high school is now built and we have moved in. They are currently tearing the old school down, and soon there will be just a parking lot. Because of the alumni night that was one more memory that will allow people to never forget the old high school.

Review

I have eaten at many different restaurants in my 15 years of living. Chili’s however has been the most enjoyable. The people were nice, the food was good and over all it was a fun environment.
When going into a new restaurant you want to feel welcome and be able to enjoy your time being there. Right when you walk into chili’s you feel that. The workers are extremely friendly. We had a person to seat us, and also a different person as a waitress. They were all extremely friendly and welcoming. They made sure that as costumers we were comfortable. They brought us our drinks and food as quickly as possible and made sure that we always had what we needed. Being in a restaurant with friendly people makes it that much more enjoyable.
I have always seen the chili’s commercials on TV and have always heard the food was really good. However, we don’t have a chili’s here which makes it hard to eat there. When we are traveling we try to eat there as much as we can. The food is amazing. They have so much variety and different foods. You portions are well worth the pay as well as the actual food. The food is a one of a kind, and is enjoyable every time. When going into chili’s the vibe is fun and entergetic. You can tell right away that the workers put alot of effort into make you feel welcome and want you to have a good time.
The atmosphere in Chili's is simple. Since most of their dishes revolve around the American southwest, and they have decorations to match. There are plenty of vintage advertisements for chilli cook offs and other fun things. The tables are decorated with tiles that match Native American art patterns of the American southwest. The restaurant is also quite spacious. The tables are all lined up against walls which allows for clear walking paths and keeps the place looking uncluttered.
I would advise anyone willing to try new and good food to try chili's. It is simple and a very over all great restaurant. Restaurants vary and are not all the same. However, most are very well worth the trip.

OPED 4/12/09

I agree that in the past years country music has changed, but i disagree that is has changed for the worst. Country is a very popular genre of music and has been for years and years. The meaningful thought in the lyrics are still as important as in the 70's. Country music today is just more moderate than in the 70's. Its not less meaning full though.
Country music is known for it's passionate lyrics, and always has been. Even though not every single song is about the land, or the south doesn't mean there isn't still songs about that out there. Many country artists today sing about the U.S.A and how they love the land. Other country artists sing about love and what they are passionate about. As far as I'm concerned, there is nothing at all wrong with that. They say country music has "changed and its just a bunch of blond whores singing about there former bed buddies." This statement is absurd. Country music is and always will be about what it has in the past. The only slight difference is that as modern day progresses so does modern country.
There's many different types of music styles. Country, Rock, Hip-Hop,and more. They have all changed with time. It's part of life. Everything changes, and is going to change. The fact that things change is not absurd, but the fact that people can't except the fact that things change is. Country music still has meaning and doesn't care what people think. They still sing about what they want and what interests them. The money and pop culture have nothing to do with it. It is simply change. Change, that's all it is. It has nothing to do with money, pop, other fame or publicity. Everything changes over time. The fact is, is that country music is being song with change. It still includes passion and talk about the land, just in a different sense.
I strongly disagree that country music is no longer enjoyable. I think everyone should be up for a little change. Country music will always have passion and heart in its lyrics. It will always talk about the land and be the same ole' country music. The only difference is, is it is modernized. People need to be willing to listen to it, just like in the 70's.

New School is a Drag
Alyssa Herman

Any normal person would be excited about moving into a new school, but when there’s ridiculous rules it’s impossible to enjoy. Both staff and students couldn't wait for TRHS’s brand new high school.
When the time finally arrived almost everyone was bummed about the ridiculous rules we had to suddenly put up with. After hearing from the students and adding my own take on the whole situation, I believe the school needs to lighten up. The two most ridiculous rules are that we can't have water, and that we can't even wear coats
First of all water is not a big deal at all. It doesn’t stain and it’s really easy to clean up. We clean the floors with water, why can't we drink it? Not only is this rule stupid, it’s insane. All we ever heard in the old school was "make sure you guys are drinking water." "It’s always good to have a bottle of water with you in class." It’s too much of a hassle to get up during class and drink out of the fountains. Even teachers get irritated that we can’t have water. We have become so use to having a bottle of water, and now all of a sudden it’s banned. I believe Mr. White is being terribly unreasonable. Especially when half the teachers don’t even follow the rules.
The school is not always warm. The heat doesn’t turn on till 7:00am. When we have really cold nights, which we do its Wyoming, the building takes too long to warm up. The past week in the school has been almost colder than outside. We should not be told whether we're aloud to wear coats are not. We are individuals and if I want to wear a coat I'm going to wear a coat. They haven't even given us a good reason why we shouldn’t wear coats. They said anything we wear outside we shouldn’t wear inside, well I think that if its colder in the building then outside, we should be allowed to wear a coat.
Mr. White and the teachers need to realize these little rules are unintelligent. It is NOT a big deal to have water in the class rooms, or to wear a coat. If they can give me one good reason why coats are a big deal, which they aren’t then maybe I will consider not wearing one.

The woman accused of kidnapping and murdering a young girl may have also raped her. "When she was booked, she was booked on charges of kidnapping and murder," Tracy Police Sgt. Tony Sheneman said. "And we're informed by the district attorney that she'll be charged with abduction, murder, rape with a foreign object and lewd and lascivious acts with a child." The young girl was found dead in a suitcase.

Pam Biggers, a 52-year-old woman from Hueytown, Alabama, disappeared while on a business trip to the Florida Panhandle. "She had some episodes ... complaining of voices in her head and paranoia."

Phil Spector found guilty of actress' 2003 murder
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/04/13/phil.spector.verdict/index.html?iref=nextin
After about 30 hours of deliberation, a jury on Monday convicted music producer Phil Spector of second-degree murder in the death of actress Lana Clarkson more than six years ago. Clarkson, 40, was found dead, slumped in a chair in the foyer of Spector's Alhambra, California, mansion with a gunshot wound through the roof of her mouth in February 2003. "This entire jury took this so seriously," she said with tears in her eyes, before adding that "it's tough to be in a jury," because another person's life is in the jury's hands.

Movie review

Role Models is a comedy about two loser best friends who work at an energy drink company. They get arrested for crashing a truck and then sentenced to 150 hours of community service or 30days in jail. Each of them has to act like big brother to a kid with major adjustment problems. They are assigned one kid and have to perform “big brother” activities with them. Danny (Paul Rudd), a 35-year-old mope who sounds as if his soul has been burnt to a crisp, and Wheeler (Seann William Scott), a woman chaser without a single mean bone in his body, arrive at the Sturdy Wings mentorship center and discover that trying to actually, you know, communicate with a kid is their own special therapy.
Wheeler is assigned to a 9 year-old handful of trouble, (Bobb'e J. Thompson) as mentally active as he is misbehaved, while Danny gets stuck with Augie, a narrow-minded teenage dork who devotes his afternoons to organized role-play. Christopher Mintz-Plasse plays this super-dweeb with such passion that you're not sure if you want to laugh at him, give him a pep talk, or slap him.
The four of them have their individual ups and downs, but soon realize how important one another are. The twisted comedy is based on friendship and not being selfish.
I would recommend this movie to anyone over the age of twelve. And who enjoys a good laugh.
